Being from Philly, and no longer living there, this recipe defenseless my eye. Information technology is however, Non by any stretch of the imagination a "Philly Cheese Steak". Steak must be much thinner, cheese should be provolone and mixed in with the meat, and I've never had green peppers on one, unless they were hot peppers. Practiced sandwich, but continue in mind it is non what it calls itself.
03/06/2005
Bang-up spice/seasoning mix for the meat. In the future I will add together three tablespoons of olive oil and allow the meat to marinade overnight. I used swiss cheese simply adjacent fourth dimension I will apply provolone. The amount of cheese needs to exist increased drastically (maybe double or triple the amount of cheese called for). Be certain to purchase large hoagie rolls as smaller ones don't concur all the ingredients. I recommend adding a cup of sliced mushrooms to the meat mixture.
12/02/2002
Not a Philly cheesesteak, but OK. For Philly-style cheesesteak, meat should be super thin (freeze 90% and shave across grain using sparse slicing disc of food processor). Also, cheese should be american or provolone (slices laid over and stirred into meat while information technology's in the skillet, at end of cooking) or Cheese Whiz. But if you're not specifically looking for a Philly cheesesteak, this is a tasty sandwich for what it is.

My hubby made this YUMMMM! The things that he did differently were added crimson pepper, mushrooms, and used garlic in a jar. Then marinated the meat with all the seasonings calculation worsteschire sauce. Toasted the gyre with a light spread of butter. Instead of swiss he used provolone, melting the cheese in the pan over the meat. YUMMMMMM! Thanks Wendy.
12/17/2002
This is the closest to a existent Philly Sandwich I've ever made. I used provolone instead of swiss the second time I made it. That makes a large departure, so I stick to provolone everytime I make it. Don't let all the spices go on you from tying it, because it is well worth it and a tip for buying spices is await in the mexican food isle in grocery for little packages of all the spices needed. They are alot less expensive than some other brand names. So it'due south affordable on ones upkeep. Almost a 5 * with my boys.

Being from Nebraska, nosotros have a limited interpretation of a Philly Steak Sandwich. But my married man asked me to make these and they turned out great! We have put this recipe in our favorite'south, and volition enjoy. Thank you Wendy!
07/05/2003
The flavoring for the meat is but wonderful! I made this the beginning time as sandwiches. Since then, we've been using the same seasoning mix (doubling the chili powder) and making steak fajitas with it instead. I have used various cuts of meat (even sliced chuck roast) with great results. Sirloin tip roast works smashing...but partially freeze and piece into fajita-size strips, mix with the seasoning and fix equally directed. Perfect blend of spices! Thank you lot and then much, nosotros really enjoy this one :-)
07/01/2003
This are amazing...I am not too big on peppers, but wow. I similar to add different kinds of cheeses for my married man who must take cheese on everything. I can not expect to make these once again. Awesome...Cheers for posting.
09/13/2002
A lilliputian bit different from a traditional Philly, just it had great flavor and made an excellent sandwich. I added some chicken goop to the meat drippings in the pan, and information technology made a swell au jus. Thanks for sharing!
05/xiv/2008
Wow! The spiced meat was delicious! I used chewy Calabrese buns, because the shop was out of hoagies, and (afterward reading upward on the "traditional" Philly Cheesesteak) I did one batch with provolone cheese and another batch with Cheez Whiz. We preferred the provolone. Oh, and I used the garlic mayo from the other allrecipes cheesesteak, which elevated the sandwich to a whole new level. Fabulous! Volition definitely add to the regular rotation!
09/08/2010
I accept fabricated these sandwiches twice at present and they were WONDERFUL! I don't care if they are authentic or not, they are just delicious. Start time I used leftover cooked rib-eye steak that my husband sliced super thin with an electric knife. I put the pieces in a ziploc bag with all the spices to permit marinate. 2d time I fabricated, I used frozen steak-ums and that worked well too; however I think the rib-eye was but a trivial better. Practice not skimp on the bread. I bought very overnice, fresh hoagie rolls from our store's bakery and it actually makes them. The combination of spices and meat, cheese, etc but makes for a super delicious sandwich. Oh and first time I used swiss cheese as recipe calls for and 2d time I used provolone. We actually liked the swiss meliorate as information technology has more flavor. I am so glad I found this recipe when I was looking for a way to use up a leftover steak! Cheers so much for sharing the recipe!

Non a philly cheese stake, Not fifty-fifty shut. Try Pat's and Geno's Steaks In philly. I Adopt geno'south the debate continues.
08/27/2002
Very good and easy luncheon. These are the closest recipe I have found that replicate the ones made downward at a local cafeteria. I omitted the marjoram without compromising the gustatory modality. Will brand again.
01/23/2007
tasty recipe but non a "Philly" cheesesteak, every bit I know it. Paper thin beefiness, peppers, onions and cheez wiz on a hoagie are the authentic.
04/25/2009
Dear these, and they freeze beautifully!I wait until Sirloin is on auction, then have the butcher slice it as sparse as he tin can. (All that slicing past mitt gets tough!)I cut the recipe in half, and placed all the raw ingredients for 1/2 a recipe in a 1 quart freezer bag. (1/two recipe is the perfect size for 2 adults.) Squish the bag to get the air out, and freeze for up to six months. Pull from the freezer, and cook as described. You lot volition never know they only came out of the freezer, and it makes for a super-fast meal. Provolone cheese is our favorite instead of swiss!
01/19/2007
Loved the flavour of this i. Added the galric mayo from some other recipe and information technology finished it off perfectly. 1 cup mayo with 2 minced cloves of garlic.
05/29/2010
My family unit really enjoyed this recipe. I used shaved beef which worked great.
06/21/2002
I loved all of the spices! Not your typical Philly. Next time I'm going to cook it in the Crock pot with Beef Broth and use some of the sauce for the sandwihes. Thank you!
03/17/2013
'Sgood! I really liked the spice mixture and these were first-class served with homemade baked fries. I made this exactly every bit written EXCEPT for the cheese. Used provolone instead of Swiss because I simply couldn't see it any other manner. Next fourth dimension I'll hang onto the spice mix, but I prefer steak sandwiches a tad sloppier. And juicier. This was a little dry. So side by side time I'll probably just mix everything together and permit information technology all cook together then throw cheese on acme and cover information technology to melt everything together before scooping it into a bun. Merely in that location will definitely be a next time, and so thank you!
12/29/2002
Being a Philadelphia native I take had my fair share of the "real Philly Cheese Steak" (with or without Whiz--Cheez Whiz) This recipe was delicious and like shooting fish in a barrel home version. I substitutes provolone cheese or mozarella in lieu of Swiss.
ten/20/2014
Used rib-eye steak sliced existent sparse, put in the freezer for about 15 minutes to make it piece of cake to slice. I used provolone, and married man had Swiss. I as well didn't broil the buns, merely toasted on the griddle. Lay the cheese on your cooked meat on the griddle and it will cook, employ the spatula to slop it all on your bun, that way the cheese mixes in with the meat.
10/07/2003
We make this all the time. Thanx to a philly steak pizza comercial on tv we are now adding fresh mushrooms to saute with the onion and bell pepper too! Succulent.
12/08/2011
Was in Philadelphia but had no time to consume this (as friends had told me I had to). So I made it the other day! YUMMY!
05/24/2010
I was built-in and raised in Philly and it is and so amusing to hear people try to duplicate our cheese steaks. This has expert flavour simply is Non a Philly cheese steak. Interesting try though!
06/03/2002
I thought this was succulent, as proficient as Geno's or Pat'south. My husband and I gobbled them upward, and they were sooo filling. Hours later, nosotros still weren't hungry. Definitely a keeper. Thanks Wendy!!! :)
06/02/2010
This was wonderful. The but thing that I did different was, I combined the seasonings and a dab of olive oil and virtually 2 tsp of worcheshire sauce in a ziplock purse. I added the cut upwardly steak and immune it to marinate for iii hours. This came out wonderful and flavorful.
02/05/2003
This was not bad, authentic or non! I take the sirloin right out of the freezer and piece information technology very thin with a slicer. I marinated the sliced meat with the herbs and spices plus some vegetable oil, soy sauce and worchestershire overnight the first time, just when I've made it since, I merely allow it defrost/marinate on the counter while prepping everything else and/or sides, and it imparts plenty of flavour. Thanks for the corking recipe!
11/06/2011
Very skilful but 1/2 tsp can be besides much seasoning. I season with all listed but shake it in which is definately less than what is stated. I will use more than of those I really like, ie garlic, pepper etc. Don't treat the swiss then nosotros switch it up with any is on hand...american, mexican blend, provolone. Save the juice from the pan and you an au jus for dipping. Crusty bread and ciabatta work all-time for us. These changes accept made it a v star for us!
03/twenty/2006
This was a delicious sandwich & quick recipe by modifying information technology alittle. For the seasoning we used soy sauce to dip the one pack of pre-cutting fajita fashion steak pieces. Afterwards on a plate we layed out the steak on a plate & seasoned it with grinded black pepper & used Lawrys seasoning salt instead to lightly cover only one side of the meat. Nosotros used fresh garlic with the bong peppers & onions together instead of the garlic salt. As for the bread we used the big loaf of French white bread instead which ended upwardly cutting into 4 sandwich sizes. As for the cheese, we used provolone instead & i piece of the deli sliced provolone was enough for each sandwich size. So we wounded up with 4 sandwiches full.
07/27/2001
WOW!! Demand I say more. This recipe is the best. I have had philly sandwiches in MANY restaurants and none accept tasted equally good as this. I didnt accept the marjoram and it needed more than salt than stated on the recipe but I estimate its all in the individuals gustation. Anyway, I put is on pinnacle of a soft sugariness french coil which was toasted in the broiler. YuMmY!! I rated information technology 4*'due south because I recollect it may be a fleck too spicy for kids to savor but for an developed, information technology is perfect.
08/04/2008
Good flavors.
12/09/2001
Decent recipe. Good tasting merely non quite a "Philly" ... you really want thinly sliced meat. As well .. too many ingredients to add. I've got a proficient recipe to submit.
07/13/2004
WOW! This sandwich was AWESOME! It was exactly what I was lloking for. The but changes I made was to omit the marjoram and chili pulverization because I didn't take any. Also, I used mozzarella cheese. This sandwich is a new staple in our home. My married man was too VERY impressed. Give thanks you lot for this recipe.
02/17/2009
This was a skilful sandwich.I only inverse i affair.I boiled the meat in beefiness broth for 15min.This makes the meat very very tender. Thanks for the recipe.
ten/11/2007
This recipe actually surprised my family and it was a treat to make due to its simplicity.
eleven/03/2007
The original Philly Steak Sandwich after WWII did not have whatever cheese, only very thinnly sliced tenderloin of beef, green pepper and lots of onions. No mayonaisse either. You could get it at a identify in Southward Philly and it was succulent. Even at my "tender" age, I withal remember the taste---no cheese, honesly.
08/27/2009
Very mediocre. Neither my fiance or I cared for our sandwiches, just at least he liked his a trivial more than than I did mine. I am SOOOOO disappointed.... I really thought this would exist succulent and was looking forrard to giving it a endeavor. If yous are in search of the "real thing" this doesn't compare (and I've had the REAL thing!). Having said that, I wasn't expecting an exact replica, but was hoping for something close plenty. I pretty much followed CANDYCAT's directions to the alphabetic character except for a few changes. Equally suggested, I purchased beef for stir-fry (curt on time), tossed the seasonings/meat in a large Zero-lock bag and marinated for about an hour. I likewise stir fried my meat until about done, then added the peppers/onions and continued to melt everything until the vegetables were softened. This way, I didn't demand to muddy a separate dish to "hold" the meat. I lightly brushed my sub rolls with a mixture of melted butter and garlic powder (to taste), broiled for a couple of minutes, added the meat/veggies, topped each sandwich with 2 provolone slices and finished broiling until melted. For a finishing touch, I slathered our sandwiches with garlic mayo (but eyeball information technology - you lot don't need a recipe for garlic mayo!). Served with seasoned curly fries, this was a filling meal, simply not a satisfying one. Distressing, simply this won't make a repeat with u.s.. Thanks anyways, CANDYCAT :)
05/01/2002
WOW!!! LOVED the recipe..Fabricated this terminal night just leaving out the dried marjoram and adding cheeze whiz. At that place is only 1 identify I take found that compares to this recipe that is in Las Vegas of all places, a little corner drive thur. Alas thank y'all:)
01/24/2003
My family could have cared less if this was the "real matter" or non, all I know is that they admittedly loved it. My girl Ashley is the Philly Steak queen and she gave it thumbs upwards! I sliced the steak super thin and used the famous TV chef'south bottled seasoning mix, which had everything I needed. I made actress onions and peppers and Uh-Oh, went out on a limb and used sliced cheddar cheese instead of provolone. Lamentable, I judge by doing that I turned information technology into a N.J. cheesesteak! Thank you so much Wendy every bit yous made my gang extremely happy!:)
08/28/2005
Succulent! My husband is from Philadelphia and he liked it. Simple alterations, I made a paste of the listed herbs (minus powdered garlic or onion, I adopt real) with a trivial olive oil and smeared infinitesimal steaks (steak'um type) while still frozen, and let them unthaw during the day in the frig. Afterward sauteeing beef, onion, garlic and pepper, I lightly wiped the pan and toasted the within of the rolls before adding the meat and veggies. Also substituted provolone. So good, and with 2 packs of steak'ums had plenty for leftover lunches.
03/12/2006
This was really good. I followed a previous reviewer's communication and bought pre-cutting fajita meat, and it was a real timesaver. The but future alter I would brand is to stir some soy sauce or worc. sauce into the meat with the seasonings earlier stir-frying to give information technology a bit more flavor. I volition make information technology again with this modification.
10/28/2001
I am really picky almost Philly Steak sandwiches. I thought this was really skillful. I was surprised with all of the different spices involved here, only none were overpowering and they all mingled together to provide a mild, great flavor. i am really close to giving this a v.
06/11/2005
I liked this recipe. Who cares if information technology's "authentic" or non I say! I did tweak information technology a little to my family's gustatory modality and added mushrooms and a little garlic tomato sauce. I loved the spice mixture and overall it was a wonderful meal thought.
06/22/2010
The spices on the meat was VERY overpowering, y'all couldn't taste anything else on the sandwich unless you have one tiny slice of meat and pile it as loftier equally possible with the onions & peppers. Nevermind tasting whatsoever cheese. The spice combination wasn't bad, but just not great for a sandwich.
eleven/03/2001
Very good recipe! I've fabricated this iii times already and my husband and I love them. They also rut up well the next solar day for lunch. They were a fleck besides spicy for my kids.
01/24/2003
i loved this. the only thing i did different was use one/4 teaspoon of the seasonings and added i/2 teaspoon of cajun seasoning. i likewise bought 1lb of deli roast beef. i browned this as the receipie called for and shredded the meat. so did the rest of the receipie. mmm expert
01/10/2012
Made it as is except marjoram (didn't have any). It was so good! I snipped the meat really sparse with kitchen scissors.
01/20/2003
Seeing as I've never had a "true" Philly Steak sandwich, I thought these were crawly!! I idea peradventure all the spices the recipe called for were excessive just they mixed together wonderfully. My hubby and kids all thought this was keen. I skippd the broiling office and but added the cheese (provolone, NOT swiss) at the very cease and stirred until melted. Yummy!
02/03/2012
Okay, tastes good BUT every bit a native Philadelphian, who too worked way through higher in a Philluy deli making the real affair, must say NEVER greenish peppers, lyon,t understand why every identify Not in Philly have this in the steak..ribeye sliced on a cafeteria slicer, paper sparse, chopped onion, common salt, pepper, American or cheese whiz, and for me mushrooms..just hot ruddy peppers used..but it is a overnice treat for fiends down here in TX who want the feel..good recipe..
03/nineteen/2003
Wonderful. The starting time night I cooked these I shaved the frozen sirloin as thin every bit I could with a knife. I as well used provolone and added a little soy and worchestire sauce for a lilliputian wetness. These were incredible, but it wasn't until the 2d night when I chopped the meat up in a food processor that my husband and I both proclaimed these tasted just like the ones from our local philly cheesesteak eating place.
04/05/2003
These were great. I sliced it as thin as I could and then let it marinate for the solar day. Very skillful flavor. I besides used provolone and added worchestire and soy sauce. I've never had an 'authentic' philly sandwich simply it volition be hard to vanquish this 1. I highly recommend trying this recipe.
05/17/2008
This is a wonderful recipe. I had my 'meat guy' piece two ribeyes as thin as he could. And I also used provolone instead of swiss. This is now in the regular rotation. cheers
02/05/2011
very skilful. Icut the steak into ane/4 inch strips and added mushrooms because they brand everything better in my opinion.easy to make as well.
05/18/2013
This was great, the seasoning on the steak is perfect! Be sure to cut against the grain, or information technology will be tough. I used red bell pepper instead of green, and did add together a touch of mayo to mine as I can't live without a additive on my bread lol! Very good!
03/24/2009
These were good. To get the steak cutting sparse, it helps to pop it in the freezer for a couple minutes before slicing.
08/xv/2009
So my boyfriend just proclaimed this was the all-time thing I've e'er fabricated. This sandwich is really good, I accept never tasted a real philly sandwich so it does non matter to me the sense of taste that it'southward supposed to be. This is peachy the way information technology is. Only I just needed to add some of the suggestions that I read from all the reviews, to make sure information technology had optimum flavour. I used elevation round beef. I didn't employ Hoagie rolls, because I think information technology is a US product. And so I used our local sesame rolls. Had the meat defrosting, and left it slightly frozen so that it would exist easier to slice. I didn't use the exact amounts of the veggies. Added tinned mushrooms to the veggie mix. Tinned pineapple to the finished sandwich. I added i/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes while it marinated, which was for over half dozen hours, plus a fleck more while cooking the beefiness. Also added white pepper while the beef cooked. I added i tablespoon of worcestershire sauce. I used some mayonnaise and 3 cloves of garlic on the bread. Just put the sandwiches in the oven in a 500 degree oven for 3 minutes to melt the cheddar cheese, which was grated and simply a bit.
eleven/02/2011
I recollect it'due south a great recipe. I did follow some reviews..information technology turned out awesome. Give thanks u for sharing (:
08/22/2001
Pretty practiced!!
02/22/2007
This recipe is elementary and easy to follow, and the results are amazing. All i swapped was i used Cathedral cheese instead of Swiss, and hoagie rolls must exist a Us thing equally i couldn't see them in the supermarkets in Glasgow so i just used baguettes. The results are sensational, especially as a couple of my mates now think i'm a dab hand in the kitchen.
08/11/2011
I fabricated this today for dinner and information technology was smashing. I used 1 iii/4 lb of flank steak, placed information technology in the freezer for a chip to make it firm and sliced the beef very sparse. I mixed in the seasoning with the beef and placed in the the fridge for about an hr until I was ready to melt. It only takes a few minutes to cook because the meat is so sparse. I likewise fabricated the devil'southward steak sauce that is on this site. Heated my hoagie buns and served topped with american cheese, the steak sauce and some arugula. Soooo yummy!! Everyone in the family loved it. BTW, I left out the onions and peppers b/c the kids don't similar them.
05/31/2004
this was pretty proficient, but the adjacent time i arrive im going to use less salty spices, it was very salty
x/22/2011
Didn't take whatever steak and then I used basis beef! Even so tasted fantastic.
06/03/2012
Tasty! Seasoning was very good and would make once more, even using unlike meats. Very good with provolone and mushrooms. We also used garlic mayo as a spread (1/4 tsp garlic salt with 1/four C. mayo), which really made it super!
07/21/2009
thiss recipe is skilful. i didn't use the veggies(exept onion). and i didn't apply chili powder either. but information technology was good! will make over again! thanks!
06/xx/2004
Very good! I loved the spices on the meat (although I did non add thyme or marjoram.) I was a little disappointed in the texture of my beef, even so I volition melt it longer adjacent time. It also dried out a piddling under the broiler. Other than that the season was great. Thanks for the recipe, it's been a long time since I've had a cheese steak :)
03/18/2008
This was super easy and devoured past all. I cheated and used Steak-Umms this fourth dimension, but I can meet using steak. The seasonings make this for sure. Nosotros used adept hoagie rolls and provolone cheese. Instead of onions and peppers, I used my leftover Guinness St. Patrick'south Day mushroom and onion gravy and then topped it with the cheese and popped information technology under the broiler.
06/twenty/2009
Delicious! My married man has been a Philly fan since he lived in PA as a child. This is so shut to authentic!
02/11/2012
This is a great recipe! I subbed mushrooms for the onion (not a fan) merely every thing else right by the recipe....very good.
08/15/2009
And so my beau but proclaimed this was the best thing I've ever made. This sandwich is really adept, I accept never tasted a existent philly sandwich so information technology does not affair to me the gustatory modality that it'south supposed to be. This is nifty the fashion it is. Merely I simply needed to add some of the suggestions that I read from all the reviews, to make sure it had optimum flavor. I used acme round beefiness. I didn't use Hoagie rolls, because I think it is a Usa production. So I used our local sesame rolls. Had the meat defrosting, and left information technology slightly frozen so that it would exist easier to slice. I didn't apply the exact amounts of the veggies. Added tinned mushrooms to the veggie mix. Tinned pineapple to the finished sandwich. I added i/ii teaspoon red pepper flakes while information technology marinated, which was for over vi hours, plus a bit more while cooking the beef. Also added white pepper while the beefiness cooked. I added 1 tablespoon of worcestershire sauce. I used some mayonnaise and 3 cloves of garlic on the bread. But put the sandwiches in the oven in a 500 degree oven for 3 minutes to melt the cheddar cheese, which was grated and just a fleck.
12/03/2007
I wasn't expecting much for a homemade sandwich but this was deli quality. I used Steakum frozen steaks cleaved into strips and then sprinkled the seasoning over as they cooked. This turned out cracking for what I did with it, but I imagine with the real steak as chosen for information technology could have 5 star potential. I will fix this over again equally it's the best cheesesteak sandwich I have made at dwelling house yet. Thanks!!!
12/17/2002
Wendy, I thought this recipe was neat! I didn't have all of the seasonings, and I used provolone cheese, and it was still awesome. My hubby loved information technology...information technology's definately going in our favorites! Thanks...Kim
07/07/2005
This was exactly what I wanted to eat last night. I used elevation round steak instead of sirloin and used ane large loaf of French bread cut into two big sandwiches instead. I didn't have any onion powder or marjoram, but the spices were still perfect. I loved the fashion the onions cooked upwards-- almost sweet. There was an excess of the onion/pepper mixture, so my xv month sometime happily ate the actress. Overall, this is a great sandwich and very easy.
08/31/2006
We make this recipe all the time, nonetheless we always used cubed chicken instead. We cube the raw chicken and cook it in the pan in some olive oil. We then add the seasonings, onions and light-green pepper and cook it all together. Nosotros also utilize garlic mayo (minced garlic and mayo) and broil the sandwich with swiss cheese. Cracking repast. My husband asks for this constantly and we have made this for several other people and they e'er love it.
03/xviii/2008
This was super like shooting fish in a barrel and devoured past all. I cheated and used Steak-Umms this time, but I can encounter using steak. The seasonings make this for sure. We used skilful hoagie rolls and provolone cheese. Instead of onions and peppers, I used my leftover Guinness St. Patrick's Solar day mushroom and onion gravy so topped it with the cheese and popped it under the broiler.
12/02/2010
We thought this was fantastic. We're non from Philadelphia, and then we don't care if it's authentic or not - thus we flake into our sandwiches lacking prejudice most the seasonings and cheeses. The seasoning mixture, in particular, is what sets this sandwich autonomously from others, and I especially liked the thyme and marjoram. I don't get to employ marjoram enough, simply here's a recipe where it'south a smashing addition! We liked that this was much lower in fat & calories than our usual favorite, "Jeremy'south Philly Steak and Cheese" from this site. I took some liberties with the type of pepper (used Anaheim) and the cheese (used light provolone) and was fully satisfied with the end product. Thanks for the recipe!
05/07/2008
cant get wrong with this one.... great samdwich - fast - piece of cake... I added some mushrooms and spiced them up a fleck.
02/06/2012
DELISH!! Ok, maybe non accurate Philly Cheese Steaks, but we think they are MUCH better! We used american cheese, but otherwise stuck to the recipe. Will utilize again.
02/07/2010
Could have used a niggling more zing but still succulent!!!!!
01/26/2002
My Husband and son loved it the first night so much that they wanted it again the adjacent night. I loved it and it was and then piece of cake to make.
06/29/2011
Made this recipe this evening and information technology was delicious. I added the oil to the spices, spread over my tri-tip steak and slid into a baggy over night. Sauted my onions and peppers outset then seared/fried my steak in a hot skillet until almost medium, let residual so cut into thin slices. So much easier this manner and y'all can command how y'all want your steak cooked. I used a shredded Italian alloy of mozz, cheddar, provolone & asiago cheese. Talk near good.
04/22/2008
This sandwich is and so good and easy that my husband and I make it for special occasions. It is and then flavorful! I've already gotten a philly steak sandwich at a restaurant and was disappointed because information technology was bland compared to this. Restaurants should use this recipe.
03/26/2012
Very good and very easy. Followed the recipe exactly and the entire family loved it.
08/xiv/2012
I looked at this recipe and had a bad feeling most it and should take moved on. I have never seen a recipe similar this without a tenderizer of some sort. I added all of the spices. I did ane/4 tsp. as a couple of reviewers mentioned it being also much. I was tempted to add something acidic but left it lonely. The only spice I left out was the chili powder and subbed Italian seasoning for the basil and thyme. The trouble was that the meat was tough, dry out, and almost just had a encarmine sense of taste. The texture, was just as I had anticipated. Since, I used so many herbs and spices already, I got the refrigerator condiments out to physician information technology up. I added chili sauce and a fiddling soy and worchestershire. That definitely helped. I didn't bother with the cheese in the finish since it didn't at any point seem like steak sandwich meat to me. I am glad I could salve it although I am not certain it will all get eaten which is rare in my house. To top, even if it tasted like a cheese steak sandwich, the meat was only way too thick for a sandwich of this type.
07/14/2002
I just LOVE these sandwhiches. They are such a groovy alternative to making a large repast, and infact, my family enjoys these more than!
03/xiv/2008
Fantastically delicious! I will make this once again, many times I'yard sure. I doubled everything, as I had v friends, and had plenty for half-dozen servings, not eight. Overall, very good. Next time I wanna try provolone cheese though, as that sounds good. :)

Great recipe! Just a tip if you like your breadstuff extra moist: I poured the juice left from cooking the meat over the bread and meat before I put information technology in the oven to seep the flavor throughout the bread.

Used this as a basis, I had to be a little creative every bit I didn't accept everything on the list handy.. Took 2 t-os steaks and cutting them into slices, stuck it in a sealed container with soy sauce and minced garlic for a couple hours in the refrigerator. Sauteed mushrooms and dark-green pepper in butter and soy sauce also. melted some mozzy cheese on three hoagie buns, cooked upwards the steak with onion flakes, crammed it together and poured more mozeralla cheese on information technology. Wrapped the unabridged sandwhich in foil and cooked 2 min. each side... nuking the bread get-go helped go on it moist. Hubby said it was "out of the ballpark, over the leftfield wall, into the parking lot and a smash into a windshield, cook it again anytime." He ate ii of the sandwiches right off the bat and saved the other for lunch tomorrow. :)

I had to fiddle effectually with the seasonings so it was how we like it. They were tasty enough merely manner too dry. If I were to make them again, I would simmer the beef/peppers/onion with some tomato sauce.

With a couple changes, these were great. Since information technology waso n sale, I bought eye of round steak. Very tender. I tool some other reviewer'southward suggestion to rub the steaks with spices, and so add a little olive oil and let sit down for a hour. I remember it deepened the season. I spread garlic spread on the split rolls and baked, the used sharp provolone, which is a personal preference.

The flavor of these sandwiches was proficient, only I had to chop up the meat into tiny pieces later on cooking because the beef sirloin was very chewy. I am pretty sure I bought the correct cut of meat, and I am not certain why I seem to be the only i with this trouble, merely once I chopped up my cooked slices, the sandwiches were delicious. It just took most 10 extra minutes of chopping to brand the meat soft enough to chew.
